Basilica de la Sagrada Familia is one of Antoni Gaudi's most famous works, the Catholic church is perhaps best known for still being under construction since 1882. The project, originally envisioned by Francisco de Paula del Villar, was funded by donations to encourage Christianity in Barcelona, which was becoming increasingly secular. It is located in in the Eixample district of Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain.
Antoni Gaudí was a Catalan architect, whose distinctive style is characterized by freedom of form, voluptuous colour and texture, and organic unity. Gaudí worked almost entirely in or near Barcelona. Much of his career was occupied with the construction of the Expiatory Temple of the Holy Family (Sagrada Família), which was unfinished at his death in 1926.
